These are just a few of the comments from riders who have attended Ecosse Advanced Motorcycle Training courses in the North East of Scotland.
The choice of training courses for post-test and advanced training for motorcyclists has never been greater. So, what is different between the various training organisations seen advertising country wide?
Simply this - the calibre and ability of the instructor to coach riders to a high standard of riding.
At Ecosse Advanced Motorcycle Training, you have one of the UK’s highest qualified instructors, Keith Henderson, who has been working in the field of rider training since March 1981.
Keith’s experience started working with Star Rider Training, teaching basic off-road skills and helping people pass their motorcycle test.
He was fortunate to be working within Grampian Police Traffic Department when a vacancy arose for a motorcyclist and he joined the team of 6 riders who covered Grampian region.
During his time with Grampian Police, Keith gained the following qualifications:
His operational experience included VIP escorts, training police riders to ride to high speed advanced techniques, and general road patrol in all conditions.
During his police career as Sergeant in charge of the motorcycle section, Keith was Grampian’s representative on the Scottish Bikesafe Working Party between 2000 – 2004, and was responsible for setting up the Bikesafe pilot scheme within Grampian, in addition to being one of the course instructors and assessors.
Keith has also worked extensively with the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM). He is currently an examiner for the car and motorcycle advanced tests for both the IAM and The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA).
He helped set up the Aberdeen and District Advanced Motorcyclists Section (now with Group status and associated to IAM), and ran the courses, training weekends and observer training.
It was through his work that advanced motorcycle training became recognised within the motorcycling community in the North East of Scotland as a valuable contribution to safety and riding enjoyment.
Many of the riders attending the ADAM courses wanted to take advantage of Keith’s specialist knowledge in advanced techniques, and in 1997 he formed Ecosse Advanced Motorcycle Training to meet the demand for better qualified and professional advanced motorcycle training.
Keith retired from the police in 2005, but still provides high quality training for any standard of rider who hold a full DSA motorcycle licence.
Whatever you are looking for from general rider improvement, increased confidence in bike handling skills, cornering, observation, skilled overtaking, or taking training for any advanced motorcycle test, including IAM and RoSPA, Keith can coach you to that higher standard. (Please note – you will not be examined by Keith if you have been trained by him!)
Each course is uniquely planned for the individual, techniques are fully explained, demonstrated and practised so that the rider has a thorough understanding of advanced riding.
From 2-hour sessions to a full day on the road, there is a course suitable for each rider.
All standards of rider are catered for. Training is paced to the current skill of the rider and there is no pressure to ride fast or beyond their capabilities.
It is a relaxed course, with stops built in, to ensure the rider has sufficient breaks so that it remains enjoyable throughout.
To become a safer rider, to get more from your riding and make your motorcycling significantly more enjoyable, contact Keith to discuss your requirements for a course.
